Sorry for the detour! This morning I had the best doughnut ever @donutboxla. A friend told me they were having a grand opening selling donuts 50% off and so I said, why not? I do have a weakness for donuts and cookies especially when I can have a cup of delicious coffee too. I had the a Maple bacon donut... delicious. I was examining the trends for the Spring, Summer and continuing into Fall with Fashion Weeks underway and I can see one trend that was probably missed. This major theme is Vertical!. The body shapes are long. The patterns although mixed are carried all the way down to the shoe. Boots and shoes will be more important to complete your style harmonizing color and theme rather than a stand alone statement. The feet will partner with your outfit to elongated the body, especially for women that are 5"5 and under. It can stand alone or mix with aqua, greens, and creams or contrasted with black. Rust is the new orange this season. Living Fabric

Design has exploded into many themes. I love the idea that what you think and want to create to express your lifestyle,and create living wearable art is available. I started with a simple dress in "Reel Life", a type of graffiti street scene in vibrant colors last fall and presently decided to have a lemonade social. I created custom outfits with lemons. The lemons are growing like wild fruit in California and it is the time to wear Spring, only two weeks away. I challenge you to be creative. Think what you love to do, eat, and what makes you laugh. Try it on and wear it with friends and then to a concert or garden party. We wear flowers, why not lemons. Do you think you can attract the perfect mate with wearing a hot car on your outfit or a lover of donuts? The colors of your wardrobe continue to play a part in your selections as you explore your creative appetite. Yellow is important and so I chose lemons. Patterns, Color, and Textures 2015:

I think of mixing patterns, colors, and themes. Marimekko in the 1980's was one of the first designers of her time to bring bold, bright patterns together in floral and geometric themes. The fashion world was delighted with her fresh expression of style. Fashion took on a more youthful feeling. It seemed appropriate after her bold statements to be a woman with a personal style. We love Channel, but, of course our worlds collided with the stay at home mothers and the philanthropists. Women flooded the workforce and were bosses. These events changed the way the fashion industry dressed us! We were sophisticated and yet we were beautiful, and playful, and sexy. We set our own boundaries on our style. Mixing fabrics, mixing patterns, mixing textures and mixing themes today is common and yet so many women are still afraid to take the leap and mix on their own. Many fabric designers have accepted the challenge and have done it for us as you can see in the photo above. When dressing yourself there are some tips. Choose colors that you purposely want to blend or purposely want to contrast. The ground print is usually the common denominator when mixing patterns. Themes are not so important. We sometimes create an unconscious ritual when selecting clothing for our lifestyle. I love color and I am partial to colors that I think enhance my face or colors that are easy to find. The question of whether or not I am selecting a color for my Spring wardrobe that is fashionable and beautiful for me may not always be the case. I don't think everyone considers what they are going to wear for a season In California, many women have one wardrobe and every piece of clothing hangs in the same closet for years. I admit that it could be tedious to change your closet each season. I will in the future give you tips on closet inventory, Today, I want to focus on color. A wardrobe should have approximately four to six colors. Your color choices are two basic, two fashion and two from the previous season that can combine with the new colors and styles. There is usually consistency in using two basic colors that you used last Spring. This season however, may be more difficult to do so since you can see from the color palette that the basic colors are new and fresh. Why basic colors? Shoes, purses, accessories continue the continuity of your wardrobe. Jewelry, belts, and outerwear are part of this creation of your personal style. A color analysis is helpful in selecting the right colors for you. You will need to know if the colors you are selecting enhance your skin tone and give you a harmonious look or stand alone colors that wear you. I know this is not easy at first, but the relief you will feel when you make these basic color choices will be amazing! So take a look at the Spring colors. Don't go into your closet. Spring Forward : Fashion Trends 2015

Spring 2015 is a reminder that fashion revolves around beautiful silhouettes, color, news, economy, and so much more. GoNuyu wants you to remember the Eighties if you can and embody what it was like. Some of you were not born yet, some taking your first breath, others waking up with the munchies while others were planning baby showers. The Olympics came to Los Angeles in 1984, as our perspective became more global. The economy plunged into a recession and in an effort to recover the US created a huge deficit. The economy affects the fashion trends. We began to see clothing that is cut closer to the body. The style can become more conservative than previous years and fashion begins to entertain the idea of sexy bodies. Fitted silhouettes with off shoulder attributes, cut outs and Bandeau tops are on the scene. The intent to attract mates through bare body parts heighten. The color becomes soft and muted appealing to feminine charms. Nancy Regan brought a mild conservatism and red became popular and known as "Regan Red". Trousers and slim pants called earlier about the 1950's, the cigarette pant was a popular silhouette. Not everyone moved to conservatism. I suppose you are confused. Yesterday I told you to buy a black dress. Every wardrobe needs one for each season. I have played with different color meanings and the results of wearing particular fashion colors.I want to share an experience about wearing Black. Black is sophisticated, sexy, and is a Power Color. The other side is Black clothing can also push people away. If you have a job interview, if you are at a party and want to meet a sensitive soul mate, if you are in a new situation; wearing Black cold have a negative effect It creates an impression that you are too good for the company, high maintenance, stronger than may be needed for a particular situation. Wearing Black clothing may tell people that you will not be easy to get to know. This would apply if you are trying to meet someone or if you want to get to know someone better. I know... Black is sexy and it makes you feel gorgeous and it will on the right occasions. I wore a Black suit to a business meeting in which I was a middle manager. The company was having problems and I knew they were going to look for someone to beat up on in this meeting. I even ensured my resistance to being their scapegoat by wearing a crisp white shirt, sheer dark stockings and expensive leather pumps. This meeting easy, great! I was completely safe. I looked as if I was in charge of my departments. The bosses picked on a man wearing a brown inexpensive suit with a cream colored shirt. I thought poor guy, he was not prepared for this rage from his bosses, but he had to take it! I said nothing, but was proud that my instinct told me to show strength and not let today be a day I would have my career on the edge. My wardrobe selection was advantageous, wearing black at this business meeting was positive. The power of colors is subtle and effective. It is important to consciously select clothing style and color for the right occasions. The Black dress can be positive to gain the attention and envy of others. They see you as a fashion forward sophisticated person that may have wealth, power. or at the very least power over the opposite sex. Once you gain that esteem, use it wisely in the right situations.
